JUST IN!!

14 June 2011

The Kenya government insist on supplying 5 soldiers to assist us! We did not ask for them, or need them, but still, their there! After the seasonal rains have failed yet again, (fourth year) Many people and animals are dying, of starvation and drought!  Even ETO people have to drive their remaining animals many miles to try to get some grazing!ETO'S main site at Kaguma is looking like a refugee camp, with many hundreds of people and children seeking assistance!  We do what we can to help, but we need more help from you!  Bobby.

New water project.

24 March 2011

With the help of the Italian government, ETO have been involved with a very ambitious water program, hoping to eventually bring water to many hundreds of needy people ,living in the semi-arid region of Kaguma,Tharaka.

The first phase, costing approx £430,000 is now complete and operational, meeting the needs of some 8000 people.  The second phase is underway, and when completed will bring clean drinking water to a further 12000 people including three of our ETO schools, Kaguma, Mutugunni, and Irrani.

A further £450,000 is needed to complete this exciting work, and possibly you could help, by donating towards the cost!

After yet another harrowing trip to Tharaka, the team witnessed over 330 people digging a furrow for the above, new water pipes.  We were reliably informed, that these people had not eaten any proper food for over 2 months, existing on boiled roots and leaves etc, and we witnessed this for ourselves.  I myself tasted these roots, and was not impressed.  After talking , promising to pray for them and to DO SOMETHING, we had to leave them to their back-breaking labour, then anter a few days at our RELIEF FOOD SHARE-OUT. we invited them along to participate in the program, and each family recieved around 25kilos of maize only, not a massive amount for families averaging 6 or 7, but better than nothing!
